Welcome to Modern School

Over 100 Years of making leaders

Founded in 1920, over a century ago, Modern School was the fulfilment of a visionary dream. Inspired by his father, Rai Bahadur Sultan Singh, Lala Raghubir Singh envisioned an eclectic institution that would nurture the leaders of tomorrow. It was a dream far ahead of its time, and one that has stood the test of time remarkably well.

From conception to realisation, Lala Raghubir Singh was deeply involved in shaping his vision. His father's residence in Kashmiri Gate served as a meeting place for many of the nation's prominent leaders, whose ideas and ideals left a lasting impression on the young Lala ji. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's call for national education, he resolved to establish a school rooted in strong moral values while embracing progressive and modern ideas.

His educational philosophy was profoundly influenced by Master Amir Chand, Pearson, Rev. C. F. Andrews, Mahatma Gandhi, and Rabindranath Tagore. To bring his vision to life, he assembled a team of like-minded individuals, including Sir Sobha Singh and Dr S. K. Sen. Ms Kamla Bose, with her rich experience in education, became the school's first Principal and played a pivotal role in translating the founder's vision into reality.

Thus began the remarkable journey of Modern School—a journey that continues to inspire generations and uphold the ideals upon which it was founded.
